Update!

I reworked and rechecked all the soldering points of the Monster Shield and the fan wiring.

In Simhub the issue was solved once I selected the fans to spool in Anti-Clockwise.

Now both fans are operating nicely and the project is complete.

Thankfully I can declare this thread closed!

As always open for questions and assistance to share my learnings and experience with whoever decides to build a similar project.

Ok, guys here's what I did and so far I can't still seem to solve the problem for some reason.

1- A new Arduino Uno to eliminate the idea of having an issue with the board itself (Brand new)

2- 2x Seaflow blowers model SFIB1-270-02 12V 6.0A Fuse 10.0A capable of 270CFM each

3- Since the adafruit certainly will not be capable of running these babies I went with the Monster Moto Shield

4- To power the Shield I used a power supply model S-250-12

5- Fresh install of Simhub 7.3.14

After wiring the whole thing and getting the effects running I still have one fan spooling and the other not.

I'm stuck again

No dear not yet but instead of solving the problem by trying and get a new PSU that can cope with the fans I decided to go on a totally different route. So back to the drawing board.

As soon as the new solution is done I'll post it here.

I'm using the following:

AC adapter:

Model: PH1200200D-24

Input: 100-240V-50/60Hz

Output: +12V or 2.0A

The fans are:

SANYO DENKI SAN ACE 120

Model: 9GV1212P1J091

DC 12V 3.0A

TP 111314P

I tried the second fan linked to channel 3 and had the same outcome.

Reading what I just wrote my DC is apparently not drawing enough current with only 2A.

Let me know if you suggest replacing something in my setup.

Hello !

Do you have the power rating of the fans ? it looks like it's the chip overheating protection being trigerred .
Adafruit motor shield V2 is rated for 1.7A (up to 3Amps peak), If you are close or a little above the limit with only two fans you can use output 1 and 3, it will spread the power (and so the heat too) over on the two chips of the shield.

I have been building this wind simulator for quite some time now. I first used a DK motor shield and a couple of 102 cfm fans. I found the push to be a little weak, so I opted to upgrade the fans to 200cfm ones.

The fans would spin great for the first couple of minutes but then the whole effect dies. I searched around and found someone having the same problem, the guy blamed the DK motor shield and replaced it.

I decided to do the same so I ordered myself an ADAfruit motor shield V2 as it is recommended by Simhub. Everything is installed and configured correctly.

Here's the problem whenever I mount one fan only everything runs fine, as soon as I plug in the other fan and start testing the effect, the whole thing goes into a loop of on and off.

It is not the fan and the wires as I switched both fans and had the same outcome.

Is the voltage not enough?

My multimeter read that the DC headers are giving 12V on the AdaFruit, the jumper is pulled off and the motor shield is connected to both DC power supply and USB.

What can be the cause?
