Hi,

Could I get someone's advice please. I've set up an Arduino Uno with an L298N motor board and I'm trying to run 2 Noctura iPPC-3000 fans but I'm having 2 issues.

  1. I'm unable to test either fan individually. Both have to be set to 'ON' in the 'Motor Outputs Tab -> Speed'. If one is set to off then the I clicking the test link in 'Effects Profile -> Speed' doesn't work. What could cause this behaviour?
  2. One fan refuses to operate on any voltage lower than 12V the other works fine off 10V (as measured from the L298N motor output terminals) Both fans are identical models and brand new. I tried swapping them between the two DC motor terminals on the L298N to rules out the L298N being the issue. Has anyone else had this issue with Noctura PWM fans?

Please note I've set the global gain to 100% and the individual effect gain to 100%. If I set either to anything lower than 95% then one fan will not spin when clicking the FX test button.

Also, when testing in F1 2020 I find that one fan works great, the other only turns on when racing at full speed, i.e. full 12V being supplied 🙁

Managed to solve this problem by ditching the L298N and connecting the fans PWM pin to pins 9 and 10 on the Arduino. I used a shared ground between the Arduino, Power adapter and both fans. Positive from the power adapter to both positive pins on both fans. I then configured and flashed the ShakeIT PWM Arduino Sketch in Simhub dashboard for my Arduino board.

I now have full control of the fans from 0-100% speed.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone.
