Nextion Discovery Series

I know Nextion support is dead - but do you know if the legacy nextion are the only ones that communicate and not the latest discovery model that came out last year? Do you have any reason to think that could somehow be the case? I'm troubleshooting an issue with a 3.5 discovery and feel like I'm going crazy only to realize it might be possible that a new model just would be flat out incompatible though I can't think of a software reason this would be true so figured confirmation was in order.
